Abstract

Wireless sensor networks provide many possibilities for industrial as well as home applications. IEEE 802.15.4 and ZigBee facilitate the realization of wireless sensor networks that focus on the important aspect of energy efficiency.

This work investigates the quality of service and energy consumption in IEEE 802.15.4 / ZigBee-based wireless sensor networks. Furthermore, this work also attempts to answer questions related to the effects of clocks’ precision to energy consumption in various circumstances.

A particular model of the communication according to IEEE 802.15.4 / ZigBee is developed in the modeling and description language MoDeST and simulated with the help of Motor and Möbius. In the end the result of the analysis is presented.
