Abstract
Through a wide range of deployed and proposed commercial, industrial, military, and home applications, wireless sensor networks are expected to start exerting a strong influence on our lives quite soon.
Energy efficiency emerges as a most desirable property of such networks, which was not the case with conventional networks. The present work inquires into the degree of energy awareness of a series of abstract network protocols.
Furthermore, the impact (or lack of) of clock drifting on the energy consumption is investigated.
The main analysis tool will be the simulation of models of the above protocols, developed in the MoDeST modelling language.
