Cologne/Bonn airport

The Cologne/Bonn (CGN) airport is located just north of Bonn, convenient to reach by a shuttle bus. The airport provides direct connections to main European cities, and many low-fare airlines (HLX, AirBerlin, dba, easyjet, Germanwings/4U) serve this airport.

The shuttle bus (line 670) connects Bonn central station (Hauptbahnhof) with the airport. It takes about 35 minutes, with a one-way-trip at 6,70 Euro.

Frankfurt

Frankfurt-Main (FRA) airport is the main hub for intercontinental flights and exotic destinations.

Using the train, you can get to Bonn taking either the high-speed InterCityExpress to Siegburg (about 45 minutes) and then take the subway line 66 to Bonn (about 25 minutes), with a one-way-trip at around 50 Euro. You may also take slower and less frequent trains (InterCity, EuroCity), which call at Bonn central station (Hauptbahnhof, Hbf) directly, with a one-way-trip at around 30 Euro.

  • Search for train connections, use "Frankfurt(M) Flughafen Fernbf" and "Bonn Hbf" as stations, you will be offered connections via Siegburg and directly to Bonn.

Düsseldorf

Another airport close by is Düsseldorf (DUS), connected by train directly to Bonn (about 1 hour), with a one-way-trip at 14 to 17 Euro.

By train

Bonn is on the high-speed train axis Amsterdam-Cologne-Frankfurt-Munich, and also well-connected by train to Hamburg, Berlin, Paris - among others. If your train only calls at Cologne, use the RegionalExpress or RegionalBahn trains (about 30 minutes) to get to Bonn, with a one-way trip at 6,10 Euro (RegioTicket, Category 4) or the InterCity trains at 9 Euro.
